Putting a UK Charity on the Global Map

Client: UK Charity

Challenge

The Board were seeking to develop a new five-year strategic plan to drive the organisation forward, to create a clear vision for the future and to align the senior team behind a compelling plan for delivery.

The charity had a large internal stakeholder group, all integral to delivery of the charity’s service proposition. Prior to the new plan they were attempting to implement a multitude of, sometimes competing, initiatives.

A key objective was to focus efforts behind a smaller number of strategic initiatives with the potential to transform the landscape forever, creating a social movement to enable people to lead the lives they aspired to and propel the charity to the most respected and influential organisation of its type anywhere in the world.

Approach

Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team we quickly established a governance framework to refine the vision and shape the flagship activities which would drive the future focus of the organisation.

Integral to the project’s success was a collaborative and inclusive approach with well-structured planning, empowered contribution and strong coordination controls, decision-making and oversight.

In adopting this approach we facilitated the development of a new five-year strategy for the charity which has full backing from the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.

Outcome

A strategy was developed which built upon the strong foundation already laid down by the charity.

It provides an ambitious plan to reach every person with a diagnosis, change the conversation, maintain the rights of those affected by it, push a broader research agenda and work tirelessly for a cure.

The Board of Trustees welcomed and enthusiastically endorsed the new strategy.
