Driving Innovation

Client: Leading Commercial Property Advisory & Investment Company

Challenge

The UK COO at a leading commercial property advisory and investment company asked forward thinking inc to help understand the internal innovation landscape and how the business could bring innovation to life with impact.

We became the Interim Innovation Team, engaging employees and acting as catalysts to help deliver real innovations across the business, identifying and supporting the best ideas.

Our objectives were to:

  • Develop a clear and compelling innovation strategy

  • Encourage a culture of innovation, fuelling the growth of the business and exceeding client needs.

Approach

SITUATION ASSESSMENT: We undertook a detailed review of the innovation work percolating across the business, assessing issues and opportunities including both internal and external challenges. This assessment was achieved through a review of internal documents, an extensive stakeholder interview programme and external review of innovation trends.

RECOMMENDATIONS: We developed a clear and compelling UK innovation strategy which leveraged their Global and EMEA innovation programmes and created a cohesive structure with a pragmatic implementation roadmap.

IMPLEMENTATION: With strong internal networking we identified and supported new ideas and opportunities to ‘progress to success’ and created opportunities for ‘innovation collisions’, creating buy-in for the innovation agenda and establishing the building blocks for the new Head of Innovation to continue implementing the innovation plan with real momentum building.

Outcome

  • A rich and compelling analysis and recommendation report setting out issues and opportunities and how to bring innovation to life within the organisation

  • Broad employee engagement in the innovation agenda, including UK Board approval of the Innovation strategy

  • The acceleration of the client’s innovation pipeline selection and commercialisation of the very best ideas
