The Big Discussion

There is a real opportunity now for organisations to work more intelligently and effectively, perhaps a once in a working lifetime ‘window of change’. To capitalise, it will be valuable for organisations to engage with the thoughts and ideas of their people to create change from within.

As last year unfolded, our consultancy enjoyed real success with a programme we’ve been running with clients called THE BIG DISCUSSION. The programme is designed to harness the power of bottom-up thinking.

How it works

An issue or opportunity is identified, which for example, might be on the best way for team dynamics to thrive in a hybrid working model, how to make radical progress on diversity and inclusion, or how to engage graduate hires successfully when they’re working from their living rooms.

We then engage 50-60 volunteer employees from across the organisation, often in different countries, in a two-week real-time, online, any time, curated conversation moderated by an objective discussion leader from our team. Participants use an alias for confidentiality purposes and are encouraged to be positive and contribute their best ideas to solve the problem.

A conversation develops, finds an energy of its own, changes course quite often and always ends up with a rich bank of insight and ideas. They are crowd-sourced ideas, not managed down ‘C Suite’ ideas. The ‘C Suite’ listen to them and if they are canny, empower the ‘crowd’ to work out how to make the best ones happen. It is a fantastically effective way to make change happen FAST, create real ENERGY in an organisation, enabling people to take pride in driving the execution of their own ideas.

We’re excited by the potential in 2021 for organisations of all types to unlock the transformational power of a Big Discussion.
