We are sometimes asked "What exactly does a strategy consultancy do?" or "What kind of strategy do you work on?" Here's a very brief explanation.

We work with clients (click here for our client list) across a broad range of sectors on strategies to help them grow the value of their business.

We help them to 'see the wood from the trees' and to focus on the things which really matter in transforming performance. Often we support clients in strategy implementation with a focus on the areas of developing brand capital, and culture and organisation development.

In understanding strategic context, we do a lot of work in market scoping and mapping, market opportunity quantification and supporting clients with business development strategies - both in terms of tapping into new markets and / or delivering new products or services.

We have a strong analytics department, specialists in finance, marketing and sales development and, unusually, our own small in-house creative team.

intangible strategy

We are very interested in the role of intangible assets as drivers of long term corporate value. The fact that intangible assets account for something in the region of 70-80% of a firm's value is today fairly indisputable. But what interests us is that so few management teams are focussed on systematic strategies to develop them! One reason, we suspect, is that intangible assets are maddeningly difficult to pin down and measure, and - of course - ‘what gets measured get managed'.

We have developed some very interesting approaches to measuring human capital and the 'relationship capital' which unlocks its value inside the organisation. The subject will be the focus for a future forward thinking inc leadership seminar and details of this will be in the next newsletter.

intelligent workplaces

forward thinking inc's work for the Workplace Intelligence Unit (WIU) continues to be a focus for us given our interest in the workplace as the 'theatre' in which strategies are implemented. Our mission is to help clients forge a stronger link between business strategy and workplace strategy since the link is often superficial and the workplace focus centred on the short term and the need to manage operating costs and headcount fluctuations.

We carry out a large amount of research globally into the area and run seminars across the world.
